Fatal Cynthia Avenue shooting suspects appear in court

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The two men accused of murdering a 24-year-old Macon man had their first appearance in court Monday.

The judge denied bond for 42-year-old Tony Ellis. He will have a commitment hearing on April 4th.

The warrant wasn’t ready for 23-year-old Quintavious Hutchings. He will have another hearing Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.

Bibb investigators said when the two men started shooting at each other, Tarus Fair was hit. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.


 

Two men are accused of murder after a fatal shooting on Cynthia Avenue Friday night.

Tarus Fair, 24, was taken to the hospital just before midnight Friday after he was shot. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Bibb investigators don’t know who took him to the hospital. Deputies found shell casings at the scene on Cynthia Avenue the same night.

Quintavious Hutchings, 23, was arrested first. During the investigation, 42-year-old Tony Ellis also became a suspect. Investigators questioned Ellis before arresting him for the fatal shooting as well.

Investigators said Hutchings and Ellis got into a fight and starting shooting at each other. Fair was hit and killed during the shooting.

Hutchings and Ellis are each charged with felony murder.
