Three dead after drowning at Amerson River Park in Macon
Amerson River Park is currently closed as first responders continue their search efforts.

UPDATE (7/16/2025 at 3:11 p.m.) The three people who went missing after drowning at Amerson River Park have all been found dead, according to Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley.
The 7-year-old girl has been identified as Summer McRae and was pronounced dead at 10:06 a.m.
The 28-year-old man has been identified as Johnny Collins III and was pronounced dead at 10:15 a.m.
The 10-year-old girl has been identified as Skyler Worthen and was pronounced dead at 2:58 p.m.
First responders are clearing the area of Amerson Park at this time. The park will reopen Thursday morning.
UPDATE (7/16/2025 at 12 p.m.) A 28-year-old man and a 7-year-old girl were found dead after being pulled from the water at Amerson River Park, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. A search is ongoing for a 10-year-old girl who remains missing.
Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley pronounced both victims dead at the scene. Their names have not been released, but officials say next of kin have been notified.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A search for two children and a man in the Ocmulgee River has been called off until Wednesday.
According to a news release from Macon-Bibb County, the 911 Center received a call just after 7:30 p.m. regarding a possible drowning at Amerson River Park. Deputies say firefighters and a dive team were dispatched to the scene and immediately began searching for the victims.
The news release says a 7-year-old and 10-year-old, both girls, were swimming in the water and began to drift before going under. A 28-year old man then jumped in after them and also went under.
Divers say they searched the area where the family was located while the boat traveled along the river to look.
The search was then called off just after 9:00 p.m., due to darkness. The county says the search will resume at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday and that Amerson River Park will be closed while rescue crews continue the search.
