Two arrested in attempted contraband drop Friday at Washington State Prison

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Two people were arrested after an attempted contraband drop at Washington State Prison on Friday, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The attempted contraband drop occurred around 3:45 a.m. on March 21. A deputy in Davisboro noticed a suspicious vehicle in front of the prison. The vehicle made several traffic violations, and the deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop.

When the deputy activated his lights, the vehicle sped away, and the passenger threw a plastic bag out of the window onto the prison grounds. The deputy followed the vehicle onto Highway 231, and the vehicle later crashed near Heards Bridge Road. The driver and passenger attempted to flee on foot.

The news release states that after a track of about 3 miles through various terrain, the suspects were caught and taken into custody. Nearly 20 grams of ecstasy, 2.5 pounds of tobacco, and other contraband were recovered.

33-year-old Dequavious Robertson of Atlanta was charged with trading with inmates, two counts of crossing guard lines, three counts of items prohibited by inmates, two counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, two counts of obstruction, fleeing and attempting to elude, and numerous traffic violations.

17-year-old Zanija Allen of Albany was charged with trading with inmates, two counts of crossing guard lines, three counts of items prohibited by inmates, two counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, and two counts of obstruction.
