Two 14-year-olds charged after vehicle stolen from Bolingbroke convenience store

BOLINGBROKE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Two juveniles are facing charges after a vehicle reported stolen from a convenience store in Bolingbroke was recovered by law enforcement, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from the Marathon convenience store in Bolingbroke.

According to the sheriff’s office, the vehicle owner reported that two male individuals approached and asked for a ride to Athens. The victim declined the request and entered the store.

While the victim was inside, the two individuals allegedly entered the vehicle and drove away.

A Monroe County deputy later spotted the stolen vehicle traveling on a highway and attempted a traffic stop, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities said the suspects attempted to flee but lost control of the vehicle and drove into a ditch. Both individuals then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Deputies conducted a search of the area and later located both suspects at the Walmart on Zebulon Road, according to the sheriff’s office.

The two suspects were taken into custody without incident.

The sheriff’s office identified the suspects as 14-year-old juveniles. Both have been charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle.

They are being held at the Regional Youth Detention Center in Macon, according to the sheriff’s office.
