“Twilight” Fans Show Up for Charity Drive Before Private Screening

Twilight CudmoreMACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Hundreds of Twilight fans were at the Amstar 16 Theater in Macon for a private screening of Breaking Dawn: Part 2; but they’re not all rooting for Team Edward or Team Jacob this time–these “Twi-hards” showed up for Team Esme.

The Esme’s Heart organization collected new, unwrapped toys and canned goods for the needy to benefit Toys for Tots and the Middle Georgia Food Bank. 41NBC talked to some serious fans, who said they were really excited to gather around a great cause and a great night at the movies.

Esme’s Heart actually is the reason one of their contributors became a fan of the wildly popular film franchise. “I wasn’t even a fan…I am now, but wasn’t then,” says Trasee Davis. “We have proceeds going to Wounded Warriors, also Abby’s Dream and the Make-a-Wish foundation and Rooms for the Heart.”

“I contribute a lot to it and we just have a really good time bringing the toys and the canned goods and stuff, and it’s for a good cause,” says Annalisa Patterson.

Last year, at the Breaking Dawn: Part 1 premiere, Esme’s heart collected more than 550 toys and raised $1500  for the Wounded Warriors Project.

41NBC got a chance to meet the president of Esme’s Heart Cindy Adrien, and Daniel Cudmore, who plays Felix, one of the Vulturi vampires in the film. Adrien tells 41NBC she’s proud to see fans of the film who are so generous to people in the community. Breaking Dawn: Part 2 officially premieres Friday.
