Turf Manager For Rome Braves Pops Question On Turf

ROME, GA – A turf manager is hoping his wedding proposal leads to love that grows as strong as the infield grass he tends at Rome’s minor league baseball park.

Bryant Powers walked onto the field at State Mutual Stadium moments after a Rome Braves game ended, dropped to one knee and proposed to his new fiancee Savannah Ruth.

He told the Rome News-Tribune that he wanted to propose at the stadium, but preferred that it wasn’t before a capacity crowd. Due to some rainy weather, the crowd for Thursday’s game was sizeable not but capacity. Many fans stuck around for the proposal since the game wasn’t decided until the ninth inning.

Powers said he and Ruth, the field host for the Rome Braves, haven’t set a date but are considering February.
