Truck struck by train in Monroe County, driver not injured

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A truck driver was not injured after a train struck the vehicle Monday morning in Monroe County, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 9:13 a.m. September 28 to the area of Zellner Road facing Highway 41 North after receiving a report of a truck being struck by a train.

According to the sheriff’s office, a preliminary investigation indicates the driver attempted to cross the railroad tracks before the train arrived.

The driver realized the truck would not make it across in time and put the vehicle in reverse, according to investigators. The train struck the front end of the truck.

The sheriff’s office said the driver was not injured.
