Trouble with the Curve Opens, Movie Goers Excited to See Local Hangouts

MACON, Georgia (41 NBC/WMGT) – The City of Macon is hitting the silver screen. The Clint Eastwood film “Trouble with the Curve” hits theatres on Friday. Local movie goers say they can’t wait to spot some of their favorite hangouts throughout the movie.

“We’re really looking forward to kind of playing “I spy” [and] see what we can point out of Macon and see how its been edited to look different than what we see everyday,” Prisilla Esser said.

Esser grabbed lunch at the Cheers Bar and Grill before going to see the movie. Some scenes were shot at this local bar and at a baseball field in Central City Park. Bobby Greene remembers how crazy it was was when crews were filming at the bar.

“There was a lot of people, a lot of stirrup,” Greene said. “The road [was] blocked off out front, you couldn’t drive in while they were filming, [and there were] lines of people out there trying to get pictures with him.”

Local movie critic Jackie K. Cooper hasn’t seen the movie yet, but he says it is expected to be number one in that nation during its opening weekend.

“I think its going to be a great movie and then the added bonus of being familiar with some of the scenes in the movie,” Cooper said. “To have a movie of this caliber film in our area, that’s an amazing thing.”

“Trouble with the Curve” is not the first movie to put Macon in the Hollywood spotlight. Parts of the movie “42” that tells the story of baseball legend Jackie Robinson were filmed all over downtown Macon and the Middle Georgia area. That movie is set to open next April.
