Tropical system to impact Middle Georgia this weekend

MACON, Georgia. (41NBC/WMGT)- Rain chances will increase this weekend as a tropical disturbance moves across the southeast.

TONIGHT.

Clouds will increase tonight as temperatures fall into the upper 60’s and lower 70’s. A few showers are possible throughout the night.

SATURDAY.

Activity will begin on Saturday with showers beginning by mid-morning. Throughout the day we will be dealing with off and on scattered showers and thunderstorms. With these showers you can expect heavy rainfall thanks to a very moist atmosphere. A brief spin-up tornado on Saturday is possible, but the greater risk for tornadoes moves in on Sunday morning.

SUNDAY.

The overall severe weather threat for Sunday is low, but it will be maximized Sunday morning. An isolated tornado is possible. By the evening our rain and storm chances will go down. A Flash Flood Watch will go into effect on Saturday afternoon and will run through Sunday evening.

2-4″ of rain is likely in spots across Middle Georgia. Isolated areas to our north could see up to half a foot of rain before the end of the weekend. Stay tuned throughout the weekend for updates.
