Traffic stop in Wilkinson County leads to drug arrest

Officials say deputies with the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office were assisting in an enforcement detail when they pulled over a Chevrolet Traverse.

GORDON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A routine traffic stop in Wilkinson County led to a drug arrest and the seizure of a large amount of suspected marijuana, according to deputies.

Officials say deputies with the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office were assisting in an enforcement detail when they pulled over a Chevrolet Traverse.

During the stop, authorities conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered a significant quantity of suspected marijuana. Deputies say the seizure included edibles, infused products, and multiple pre-rolled marijuana cigars believed to be intended for distribution.

The driver was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Wilkinson County Jail. Deputies also seized the vehicle as part of the investigation.

Officials say the seizure helped prevent a large amount of illegal drugs from reaching the community.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could follow.
