Tracy Keeps His Word, Switches Teams For Indy 500

INDIANAPOLIS – Paul Tracy is pulling double duty in the IndyCar Series this season.

At Indianapolis, the outspoken Canadian has a one-track mind. Tracy, the 2002 Indianapolis 500 runner-up, has switched teams and will run for Dennis Reinbold despite having a five-race deal with Jay Penske’s Dragon Racing.

It’s just business. Reinbold offered Tracy a full-month, fully funded ride for the 500 in March. That allowed Tracy to continue shopping his limited funding to another team and a few weeks later, Penske hired Tracy.

Tracy earned 14 points for Penske’s team last month in Long Beach, and now has turned the No. 8 car over to Chinese rookie Ho-Pin Tung. This month, Tracy will run for Dreyer & Reinbold, before returning to Penske’s team.
