Tornadoes confirmed from New Year’s Weekend
The National Weather Service in Peachtree City completed their damage surveys from the weekend and have confirmed that two tornadoes touched down in Middle Georgia.
On Thursday, December 30, a tornado touched down in Pulaski County, near the western edge of the county.
This tornado uprooted trees and damaged homes along a path of about 10 miles, before lifting near the Ocmulgee River.
This tornado was rated an EF-0 with top wind speeds of 80 mph.
The other tornado reported was in southern Wilcox County, about 8 miles south of the town of Abbeville, on Sunday, January 2nd.
The tornado was on the ground briefly, but during that time uprooted some trees, destroyed a shed, and damaged a roof.
The tornado was rated an EF-0 with maximum winds up to 80 mph.
