Tim Walz comments on Trump assassination attempt at Macon campaign event
Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz condemns violence and praises law enforcement following attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz addressed supporters at a campaign event in Macon Tuesday morning, offering his comments on the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump over the weekend.
Walz expressed his gratitude that Trump was unharmed and condemned the violence in all forms.
“Before we get started, everybody, I think it is worth noting what happened yesterday with President Trump in Florida. Horrific situation,” he said. “I’m thankful to the Secret Service and law enforcement for their quick action and relieved that the President is safe.”
In his remarks, Walz mentioned the importance of resolving political differences through democratic processes rather than violence.
“We don’t solve our differences in this country with violence,” he said. “We condemn it in all its forms. We solve our differences at the ballot box. That’s how we get this done.”
Walz highlighted the value of democratic engagement and community.
The Vice Presidential candidate also took a moment to reflect on leadership.
“It’s a joy to be part of a democracy where we can freely gather to decide our future,” he said. “Leaders aren’t the people who beat others down. Leaders are the ones who lift people up and put others first.”
He suggested that this is a lesson that former President Trump could benefit from learning.
The attempted assassination of Trump has drawn widespread condemnation and concern, with law enforcement agencies swiftly investigating.
Walz has another campaign stop in Georgia later Tuesday. He’s scheduled to be in metro Atlanta.
