Tiger Woods arrested for DUI after Florida crash, future in question

(NBC)- Golf legend Tiger Woods is facing new legal trouble following a DUI arrest in Florida after a rollover crash near his home.
These are the first images of Woods after being released from the Martin County Jail late Friday, appearing stoic as he sat in the passenger seat of an SUV. His mugshot was also released.
According to the sheriff’s office, Woods was alone in his Land Rover and speeding when he attempted to pass a truck pulling a small trailer. Authorities say he struck the trailer, causing his SUV to roll onto its side.
Officials confirmed neither Woods nor the driver of the truck was injured.
Authorities say Woods showed signs of impairment at the scene and was charged with DUI with property damage, as well as refusal to submit to a lawful test.
This is not the first time Woods has faced similar charges. In 2017, he was arrested for DUI and later pleaded guilty to reckless driving. In 2021, Woods was also involved in a high-speed crash outside Los Angeles that left him with major injuries.
Now, this latest incident is raising questions about the 15-time major champion’s potential return to the Masters, which is less than two weeks away.
“I’ve been trying. This body just doesn’t recover like it did when I was 24 or 25. I want to play,” Woods said previously.
Analysts say concerns are growing about his future and legacy in the sport.
“This has happened now time and time again and no one wants to see Tiger Woods end up as a tragic figure. They want to see him get help, if that’s what he needs,” one analyst said.
As of now, Woods and his team have not released a statement following the arrest.
