Three Men Arrested, Charged with Burglary in Houston County

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Three men wanted in connection for multiple commercial burglaries were arrested during a multiple agency operation early Friday morning.

Perry police Captain Heath Dykes says 27-year-old Marcell Harris, 24-year-old Cornelius Redding, and 25-year-old Deion Kevin Murray are charged with burglary. Dykes says the burglars smashed the front door of the Speedy convenience store off Houston Lake Road around 4 a.m. He tells 41NBC they stole cigars, cigarettes, and other miscellaneous items. Another convenience store, Highway Haven, in Peach County at GA 96 and Hwy 41 was also burglarized.

While Perry officers investigated the crime, a Peach County deputy responded to a truck stuck in a ditch near the Highway Haven. Dykes says the deputy saw cigarette cartons and other items in the truck there were from the burglarized stores. The deputy arrested Murray.

A manhunt ensued. Dykes says officers set up a perimeter around the wooded area to look for the other two suspects. A Georgia State Patrol helicopter assisted in the search.

Dkyes says a homeowner in the Erin Glenn neighborhood called 911 and told officers she saw the two men. Officers picked up Harris and Redding at Erin Way.

Harris and Redding are also facing additional charges of obstruction. Both men are being held at the Houston County Detention Center. Murray is being held at the Peach County Jail.

Dykes says they could face additional burglary charges as well as entering auto and motor vehicle thefts.

The Perry Police Department, Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Peach County Sheriff’s Office, Warner Robins Police Department, and the Georgia State Patrol worked the investigation.
