Three Macon-Bibb Organizations Partnering to Host “Thanksgiving in the Neighborhood”

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Three organizations are partnering together to host community dinners throughout Macon and Bibb County for this year’s Thanksgiving in the Neighborhood.

Macon-Bibb Parks and Recreation is joining Macon One Community Connections and the Mentors Project to serve up free meals from 5 to 7:30 pm on Tuesday, November 26th.

The Mentors Project will be collecting non-perishable food and gently used coats.

You’re encouraged to bring a dish if you can. Dinner is free for everyone in the community.

“Sometimes if you put a face to a problem you feel more ownership for the problem. So if you go to the centers and realize some of these neighbors may or may not need your help, they’re still your neighbor, you’re more apt to help out. It allows people to get together and just have a good time,” said Frank Dixon, Macon One Community Connections.

The dinners will be hosted at the following recreation centers: Bloomfield Park, Frank Johnson Recreation Center, Freedom Park, L.H. Williams Community Center, Memorial Park, and Rosa Jackson Center.

For more information you can contact Dixon at (478) 227-0058 or macononecc@gmail.com.
