Three Finalists in Search for Peach County School Superintendent

Tonight, parents, teachers, and citizens of Peach County heard about the vision each candidate has for the future of schools in Peach County. Dr. Dennis Carpenter, Joe Ann Denning, and Dr. Christy Johnson were chosen by the Board of Education as the three finalists. One parent, Roy Lewis,·is not convinced any of these candidates can fix what’s broken in the school system.

“I heard the comments from all of the candidates tonight, and it’s very concerning that one, none of them have superintendent experience, and two none of them have high school principal experience.”

Parents at tonight’s forum expressed their concerns about the potential new leader for their school system.

Johnson believes her 27 years of·experience in·the Caroll County school system is just what Peach County needs, but·change is going to take some time.

“I am no job hopper, if you will look at my background I am system loyal, and it will take that longevity to make any kind of effective change in Peach county.”

Parents like Lewis say that’s where the problems start.
