Three Cases of West Nile Confirmed in Houston County
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Three cases of West Nile have been reported in Houston County according to the North Central Health District.
According to a news release, the reported cases were in a 10-year-old boy, a 65-year-old man, and a 70-year-old woman. They were all hospitalized.
“I understand that two of them are fully recovered and the third one is recovering but still at a facility, a long term care facility,” Dr. David Harvey, the District Health Director for NCHD, said.
Dr. Harvey says cooler weather should help alleviate the prevalence of mosquitoes in the area, but Middle Georgians should still be cautious.
“While we have only seen confirmed cases in Houston County, this should serve as a reminder for all Middle Georgians that disease-carrying mosquitoes are out there and residents should protect themselves against mosquito bites,” says Dr. Harvey.
