Thousands Lace Up for Labor Day Race

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Thousands of runners pounded the pavement for the 36th annual Labor Day Road Race.

The course led through downtown Macon to the finish line at Central City Park, where everyone gathered to eat, relax and enjoy some fun in the sun.

James and Tanner Reid placed second in the 10K parent and child category. The Reid’s team was called Out With the Old and In With the New. James Reid says his family is full of runners and is proud to have his son running by his side.

“We’re out there for the fun and if we win a few medals along the way then that’s the icing on the cake,” James Reid said.

Becky Griffin and her husband both participated in this year’s run.

“I think it’s a wonderful event and I’m glad that Macon is doing something like this to get the community together. I wish they would put on events like this,” Griffin said.

Alan Black placed first in the 5K race and Josh Myers placed first in the 10K race.

The event is organized by the Macon Tracks Running Club.
