Thieves Steal Unusual Items In Neighborhood Break-in

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon woman is blown away by the scene that unfolded at her home today.

People smashed her sliding glass door, passed over her jewelry, and stole food.

Icicles hang from the roof, and snow still sits in the yard at the house on Daffodil Street.

“But then I looked over and I said, oh my goodness, someone busted my window,” said Parker.

Wilda Parker had her 16-month-old Malachi in her arms when she arrived back at her house from running some errands Thursday afternoon.

“I came back, and when I walked into the door, the water faucet was on, which was really weird, and I’m like why is my water faucet on?” said Parker.

She then noticed the terrible damage to her sliding back door–thieves had thrown a large rock through the glass and stole something, a little unexpected.

“I think some kids got bored…and I guess they were thirsty,” said Parker.

Someone broke into Wilda’s house and stole…of all things some apple juice and yogurt from her fridge and her fiance’s bike–which had a flat tire to boot.

And when the weather’s been as cold as it is here in Macon in the last few days, a gaping hole in the side of your house letting that cold air in is not something that Wilda really wanted.

“They’ve been doing it for so long that they’re like oh, nobody’s going to catch me, so they just wanted to get in and see what they could get,” said Parker.

Wilda said she’s heard of multiple neighbors being affected by similar acts of vandalism in the two months she’s been in Macon.

41NBC spoke with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office who couldn’t comment Thursday on other incidents in the area, but said they are investigating this incident.

Despite Thursday’s break-in, the Miami native says she’s still enjoying living in Middle Georgia.

“I’m not gonna say that Macon is a bad place because I don’t think it’s a bad place. I don’t. I just–I hope they do something about this–these kids because this is not fair,” said Parker.

Now, Wilda will have to board up her door to stay warm tonight.

Wilda said she called her landlord, who lives in Atlanta, to get the door fixed.

She’s considering having iron bars installed on it, which is something she doesn’t want to do, but said it will make her feel safe.
