MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Theatre Macon is celebrating a major milestone, marking 40 years of performances and contributions to the community.

The theater kicked off its anniversary season with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Along with celebrating four decades, leaders are also highlighting an addition to the performance space. Organizers say the milestone reflects not only years of entertainment, but also the theater’s impact on the local community.

Artistic Director Richard Frazier says audiences can expect a standout season ahead.

“This next season is entitled XL because it is extra large, but XL is also Roman numerals for forty. And that’s the only way I can describe it. It’s a very big season of things that people are going to want to see here in Macon that they are not going to get the opportunity to see anywhere else,” said Frazier.

The celebration will continue with Theatre Macon’s annual gala on May 16, where the official 40th season will be revealed. Tickets for the gala are available on the Theatre Macon website.
