The rainiest Middle Georgia December on record gets even rainier

Middle Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The official numbers will come in later today, but rest assured: this is the rainiest December in Middle Georgia history according to the numbers from the Middle Georgia Regional Airport. The rain keeps coming today in the form of 1 – 2 inches of rain.

Isolated storms will form as well, but the biggest concern is the rain as a flood watch is in effect for most of the area through Friday at 7PM.

It’s fortunate that the weather dramatically improves by the week’s end. After this front finally pushes through Georgia tomorrow night, temperatures will drop to the 50s for your New Year’s Eve celebrations. I’m still expect plenty of clouds on Friday, but as far as rain goes, the showers will be isolated and will continue to push out of the state.

By this weekend, we’ll see more sun and much cooler weather. Highs will be in the 50s starting on Friday, with lows in the 30s. Winter returns!
