The Prime Palate Serves Hot and Homemade
FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — It’s tangy, creamy, cheesy, and crunchy. The Prime Palate’s cabbage casserole has been around longer than the restaurant.
Co-owner Jonathan Butts said, “We opened in April 2011…my dad came up with (cabbage casserole) that probably 10-15 years ago.”
Jonathan’s father, Freddy has been known to get in the kitchen and come up with all sorts of dishes.
“My dad has been catering for 28 years,” added Jonathan.
For nearly three decades Freddy has been coming up with crowd-pleasers all around the state. Jonathan runs the business, helps with the catering, and is usually around to lend a hand inside the kitchen.
The popular cabbage casserole consists of sliced cabbage, sliced white onions, black pepper, and butter. It’s covered with a mixture of cream of chicken soup and mayonnaise. The topping on the casserole makes it crunchy and cheesy with crushed up crackers, mixed cheese, and a drizzle of melted butter.
Customer Sharon Jordan said, “I would highly recommend it.”
It is what most Prime Palate customers call comfort food.
“It’s like grandma fixed it,” said Mike Fletcher.
The Prime Palate is located at 22 W. Main Street in downtown Forsyth.
