The Lindsey Center offering Houston Cares Health Clinic this weekend
"We were surprised that that was one of the big things that came out in our community. So, we move forward with planning the center we knew that we needed to hit just that health services piece for our community," Bonnie Brown said.

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Lindsey Center Clinic in Warner Robins will provide free health, dental, hearing and vision screenings this week to anyone who needs those services.
Bonnie Brown, the coordinator of student services with the Houston County School District, says after speaking with people throughout the community, she realized it was in urgent need of health services.
“We were surprised that that was one of the big things that came out in our community, so we move forward with planning the center we knew that we needed to hit just that health services piece for our community”
Brown says the clinic served more than 300 families last year and hopes to help more this year.
“It’s just access, providing access for our families and knowing that they have a place to go,” she said. “In fact, we’re standing in the clinic that came out of the Houston Cares event last year. We parterned with the Houston County Health Department and we have a monthly clinic where families can come in and get care.”
Chair member and student at the Trinity School of Nedicine, Alice Opoku, says she and other students there wanted to create something to help others.
“It’s making sure that they have access at that initial level, rather it’s getting checked up when they have a cold, if they have a tooth that aches, making sure they get to a dentist and seen. A lot of these things can prevent further issues down the road.”
Opoku says her main goal is to make sure the clinic stays open.
“Hopefully multiple times a year in the future, making their way back to the center to have their follow up appointments to make sure they are building that community and also a rapport with a physician they can trust.”
The support center will offer services February 7 from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 8.
Representatives will be onsite to help families apply for Medicaid, Peach Care and WIC. The center is located at 81 Tabor Drive in Warner Robins.
