Black Women’s Round Table aims to educate on voting, candidates

The events run all weekend long.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda is holding a three day conference to remind black women the importance of voting.

Organizers said the event allows women in the community and across the state to come together. The event will serve as a crucial role for black women and their families to get out and vote in November.

Helen Butler with the Black Women’s Round Table said topics being discussed include key issues to ensure historic turnouts of black voters across the state. She adds they’re educating people on candidates and their Mobilizing Block by Block initiative to get people registered and free rides to the polls.

“Make sure everyone on their block is registered, has a plan to go vote if they need a free ride we’ll provide the free ride if they encounter a problem at the polls they can call to have our poll monitors assist them,” Butler said.
