Suspect on the run after deputy-involved shooting on Mercer University Drive

Deputies say they responded to a suspect attempting to break into cars.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect they say shot at a deputy just before 2 a.m. Friday.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person call. The 911 caller reported someone attempting to break into a car on Mercer University Drive.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies approached the male suspect. Investigators say the suspect fired shots at one of the deputies. That’s when the deputy returned fire and the suspect ran from the scene.

No one was injured. Investigators are still trying to identify the suspect.
