UPDATE: Mercer men lose to Samford in the SoCon semifinal

The Bears eliminate the Bulldogs in the quarterfinal round of the SOCON Tournament

UPDATE 3/9 – The Mercer men lost to Samford 70-57 on Saturday, in the SoCon semifinal game.

ASHEVILLE, North Carolina (41NBC/WMGT) – The Mercer men and women were both in Asheville Friday afternoon for their respective SOCON tournament games.

The men, took on The Citadel in opening quarterfinal round action.

Senior Jalyn McCreary proved why he was All-SOCON with his performance, adding 14 points and 3 rebounds.

Freshman David Thomas had a huge game in his first SOCON Tournament, as the Eagles Landing grad scored 27 points adding 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Bears went on to win 84-76.

Mercer will take on Samford tomorrow at 12 p.m. in the SOCON Semifinals for a chance to go to the championship game.
