Tennessee plastics plant worker kills two supervisors, barricades himself at home

Police in Tennessee are investigating a deadly workplace shooting at a plastics manufacturing plant.

(NBC)- Police in Tennessee are investigating a deadly workplace shooting at a plastics manufacturing plant that left two supervisors dead and triggered a tense standoff hours later.

Authorities say the suspect, an employee at Barku Plastics, shot and killed his two supervisors during what’s believed to have been a meeting just after 10 a.m. Monday. Investigators quickly identified the shooter, who fled the scene and later barricaded himself in his home about 20 minutes away in Bradley County.

Cleveland Police Captain Evie West said dozens of local and federal officers surrounded the neighborhood, urging the suspect to surrender. “We have made several attempts to contact him,” West said. “There has been no response.”

Police have not released the suspect’s name. Authorities are also working to notify the victims’ families — including the child of one victim who was reportedly at school when the tragedy occurred.

“It’s heartbreaking,” one officer said. “You’ve got families, daughters, and people who loved these individuals. Who would’ve thought their place of business — the place they go every day — would become a crime scene?”

The investigation remains active.
