Teens serve Thanksgiving groceries to elderly

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County Mentors Project shared the spirit of Thanksgiving with some elderly residents.

Teenagers of the mentors project served bags of groceries to the elderly, Tuesday.

The teens took their Thanksgiving groceries to the Macon-Bibb County Senior Center. The bags were filled with everything needed for a Thanksgiving meal including some snacks.

more than 45 volunteers gave curb side service to elderly residents.

“They are learning that it’s not all about them it’s all about everybody,” says the Executive Director of the Bibb County Mentors Project, June Oneal.
“ We not only want to emphasize academics we want to emphasize service learning.”

The Mentors Project started the day with a literary breakfast contest, at the Burger King on Spring Street. They were scheduled to only have three winners but they ended up with six.
