UPDATE: Man facing charges in shooting that injured a teenager in West Macon
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 15-year-old girl remains in critical condition after she was shot in the neck inside an apartment in west Macon.
It happened Tuesday afternoon at Blossom Hill Estates in the 4000 block of Mercer University Drive.
Deputies say Nykhia Sampson was handling the weapon when 18-year-old Kedrick Reynolds took the gun and it went off.
Deputies say Sampson was shot just after 4:00 pm near building 209 of the apartment complex.
Deputies say Reynolds and a baby were inside of the apartment at the time deputies arrived at the scene. Neither of them were injured.
The teenager was taken to Navicent Health Hospital.
Reynolds is charged with giving false statements after deputies say he lied about the incident at the scene.
Deputies say Reyonolds also violated his probation and has a hold at the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.
