Teen Killed in Macon’s First Homicide of the Year
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County Sheriff investigators are following up on information they received about a teenager who was found dead on a baseball field. It is the first homicide case for Bibb County Sheriff’s Office this year.
Damian Clayton was shot multiple times on the Macon Little League baseball field, located at 2230 Anthony Road, in Macon. The incident happened Saturday around 7:45 p.m., just blocks from the victim’s Lilly Ave., home.
Clayton, 16, was transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia, where he later died.
His family declined to answer any questions about the murder case. A woman identifing herself as Clayton’s grandmother said, “We just want to bury my grandson in peace.”
Macon Regional Crimestoppers Executive Director, Chris Paul said his agency is working to solve the crime. But, he gave very few details surrounding the case.
“I cannot confirm if this was gang related or not,” said Paul. “I can tell you that it was a 16-year-old that was shot multiple times and he was found on a baseball field. I know our investigators are diligently working hard to try to solve this crime. We have received tips. So those tips have been forwarded over to the investigators to follow up on these tips.”
Clayton’s murder is the first homicide case of the year for the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
