Tech Report: Verizon goes from six data plans to two

Verizon is trimming the cost and number of its wireless plans. The company hopes the change will make their plans less confusing and attract customers it has been losing to rivals. The new prices will range from $30 to $80 per line.

The Justice Department has charged a former Apple engineer with attempting to steal the firm’s technology. They allege he was after technology related to autonomous systems, including self driving cars, and that he fled to China. This was one of five cases involving alleged efforts to acquire American technology through illicit means announced this week. The cases involve Russia, Iran, and China.

Ayro is making electric vehicles that will be used for golf carts and resort vehicles. CEO Tom Wittenschlaeger says they focused on designing vehicles fabricated entirely in the United Sates. He adds that the vehicles are outfitted to be autonomous at some point in the future.

OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman, called on Congress to address serious risks posed by artificial intelligence through regulations. Altman’s firm created the immensely popular ChatGPT. He admitted his greatest fear, that AI technology could cause significant harm to the world without the proper guardrails in place.
