Upcoming college graduates aren’t pursuing careers in big tech, according to job searches. A Handshake survey found they’re submitting job applications to the retail, finance, and manufacturing industries instead. Searches for work big tech brands dropped nearly 15 percent compared to the previous year’s class.
The Federal Trade Commission is seeking a blanket ban on Meta’s use of young users’ data. The FTC cites privacy failings by the tech giant as the reason. Regulators proposed to stop sites like Instagram and Facebook from profiting off the data of users under 18.
Vice President Harris will meet with the CEOs of four American companies working on artificial intelligence. They will discuss risks of AI and possible regulations. Some worry that government regulation could stifle innovation and that other nations could surpass the U.S. in developing AI technology.
Apple and Google are teaming up on a plan to make Bluetooth trackers like AirTags safer. There’s been a number of reports about these products enabling stalking and unwanted tracking. The new technology would alert a user if there is unwanted tracking.
