(LILAMAX)- Companies are increasingly returning to in-person job interviews to combat cheating and guard against digital scams, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal. Recruiters say more candidates are using AI tools to feed them answers during remote technical interviews, while in rarer cases, AI-enabled scammers have impersonated job seekers to steal data or money once hired.
Major firms like Cisco and McKinsey are bringing back face-to-face meetings at various interview stages, and Google has reintroduced in-person interviews for some roles this year.
In other tech news, Elon Musk is threatening to sue Apple, accusing the company of violating antitrust laws by giving preferential treatment to OpenAI in its App Store rankings. Musk, who owns xAI, claims Apple’s practices make it impossible for other AI companies to reach the top spot. Apple has not commented on the allegations.
Kodak, once an icon in the photography industry, is warning in a government filing that it may not survive much longer. The company, which struggled to transition from film to digital, has in recent years diversified into specialty chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
Meanwhile, Meta announced its Threads platform now has 400 million monthly active users. Launched in July 2023 as a rival to X (formerly Twitter), Threads started with 100 million signups. Data from Similarweb shows daily active mobile users hit 115 million in June—up 128% from last year—though X still leads with 132 million.
