Tech Report: Celebrities face charges for boosting crypto assets

The Securities and Exchange Commission charged Lindsay Lohan, Jake Paul, and several other celebrities with failing to disclose that they were paid to promote crypto. They agreed to pay  fines, and return what they were paid for the promotion. This came to a total of 400 thousand dollars. Lohan was paid 10 thousand dollars to promote Tronix tokens offered by Justin Sun’s crypto company, Tron.

As the tech sector cools off, its pushed the job board Indeed cut 2,000 positions. The tech industry has already cut thousands of jobs this year. The huge layoffs mean that fewer listings have been posted on Indeed, impacting the website’s workforce.

Media executives want compensation for use of their content in ChatGPT, Bing, and Bard. In recent weeks, publishing executives have begun examining the extent which their content has been used to “train” AI tools such as ChatGPT. According to people familiar with meetings organized by the News Media Alliance, companies are also looking into how they should be compensated and what their legal options are.

Verizon has rolled out a free video-conferencing service. Up to 25 attendees are allowed into meetings and no credit card information is required to sign up for the free version.
