Live Nation pushes for change after Taylor Swift fiasco
Live Nation is calling on the government to deter scalpers. After the fiasco with a Taylor Swift concert earlier this year, the company says that the industry needs to change. Specifically, Live Nation is calling for artist to have more control over how ticket resale is done and by whom. The company is also calling for more transparency from ticket sellers, saying that they should be more straightforward about fees tacked on to the price of tickets.
Wayfair stock plunged by about 31% on due to declining demand. The online furniture retailer said it lost 5 million customers in 2022. Its total of 22 million active customers is closer to the count it had at the start of the Covid pandemic. In response, Wayfair has been cutting staff and other costs.
The feds are stepping up efforts in their long-running probe of the Google Maps service. The probe is focused on Google’s sprawling mapping business, which includes a massive stockpile of location data for businesses and other points of public interest. Officials are assessing whether Google has engaged in anticompetitive practices by requiring app developers to use its map and search products together, rather than allow them to seek out competing services.
Researchers from the University of Oxford suggest that by 2033, many household chores will be automated. The average amount of time we spend on “a domestic task” will by 39%.
The time spent doing housework will decrease by 44% over the next 10 years, they said. Time spent washing dishes decreasing by 47%. The time we spend cooking and cleaning will reduce by 46%. Experts also estimated that laundry will be 43% automated, and the time it takes to fold laundry will decrease by 44%.
