Tech Report: Amazon cutting thousands of jobs

More layoffs are coming to Amazon. The company said that it will cut 9,000 more corporate jobs. This on top of the thousands of job cuts already announced. The new round of job cuts are in cloud computing and advertising business.

AI may have a new role in your trip to the doctor. Microsoft developed an artificial intelligence that can transcribe patient notes during doctor visits. The AI is called DAX Express and it generates clinical notes within seconds. Physicians can review the automated summaries of their patient visits immediately.

Adults in the U.S. can soon have a blue check mark on Facebook and Instagram—as long as they pay and show identification. The service, Meta Verified, costs $11.99 a month for Facebook accounts that sign up from a web browser. Members who sign up through mobile apps will pay $14.99 a month. Meta verified subscribers will get other perks, like increased security checks and the ability to talk to a real person about account issues.

Artificial intelligence has developed a treatment for cancer in just 30 days and can predict a patient’s survival rate. Researchers at the university of Toronto developed a potential treatment for liver cancer with an AI drug discovery platform called Pharma.ai.
