Tattoo and Piercing Regulations One Step Closer for Houston County

The plan to enforce health and safety regulations for tattoo and piercing studios in Houston County was brought before the 20/20 Vision board today.

The plan to implement regulations such as sterilization, health checks of artists, and safety precautions, was met with a general acceptance by the 20/20 Vision board.

Georgia is also looking to implement state-wide regulations for artists and studios, but Houston County Environmental Health Manager Carla Coley, says Houston County’s regulations would go one step further.

“We will be more strict, in that, we are looking to better protect the artists,” Coley explained. “Also, to make sure the patrons are better protected as well. Not so much the facility, but more so the people coming in, as well as the artist.”

Part of the new regulations would also include random checks of studios, to make sure artists are complying with the rules.

Coley says she does not have an official time of when these new regulations will go into effect, but hopes to have them in place within the next two months.
