Four Senior Trojans signed their letter of intent Wednesday afternoon to continue to play the sport they love at the next level
Signing Day At Tattnall Square Academy As Coaches And Players Talk About Their New Upcoming Collegiate Careers

MACON, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – At the Trojan Athletic Complex at Tattnall Square Academy Wednesday afternoon in front of family, friends, classmates, and coaches, three football players and one cheerleader signed on to continue their sport of choice

One of those football players is Senior Linebacker Anson Talcott. He will be attending Shorter University in the fall. Talcott talked about how the Hawks are going to get a stud at linebacker, that can fill gaps, and can play sideline to sideline.

“Emotions right now are flying high” said Talcott Wednesday. “There’s so much going on in my life. I’m really excited to get an education that’s paid for and also play the sport that I love. The last four years have been great. I cant imagine what the next four are going to be like. I’m a late bloomer at football. I didn’t start playing til I was 10, but really fell hard and fell in love with it quickly.”

The two other seniors on the gridiron that signed on the dotted line, will be moving onto Reinhardt University. Linebacker Thomas Union and Offensive Lineman Cameron Brown say they will be roommates during their time with the Eagles.

“I’m very excited. I’m excited I know where I’m going to college, and getting to play football is a great plus” said Union after the signing. “I’m excited to go with Cam, and its going to be a blast. Abernathy has helped me a lot. Tattnall helped me develop a hard working attitude. Just getting to know everybody, it was awesome. It’s going to be awesome just to continue our relationship, and hopefully room together, and it will be very good. Hopefully keep each other in check a little bit.”

“I’m just overflowing with emotion right now” said Brown. “Glad to see all my family here supporting me. Teachers, students, it goes a long way with me. Coaches gave us an opportunity to play both of us so, we want to carry that. You want to room with someone that is going to beat on your door, and make sure you are up. So, I know we are going to hold each other accountable. As a student athlete, I feel like (the Reinhardt University Eagles) are getting a very physical player. Somebody that is going to stay on top of their work. I know they have free tutors up there so, definitely going to be in library all day everyday.”

Former Trojans Head Football Coach and current administrator John Abernathy, is proud of how far these boys have come in their four years on Barney Hester Field.

“It’s emotional for me. This is my last group and a part of that is a little sad, but I’m excited” said Abernathy. “I get to go watch them play football still, so that’s going to be a big deal for me. These kids have worked hard. It’s a testament to how much they’ve done, and how hard they’ve worked, and that’s the reason they’re here. Its a big deal for Tattnall, it’s a big deal for our kids.”

One Senior Trojan making her way to Kennesaw State University is Carly Winget. The newest Owls Flyer on the KSU Cheer Squad tells me she is thrilled to be able to sign her letter of intent. Especially, after an ACL injury almost kept her from pursuing her dream.

“I’m really proud of myself I can say because I was really hopeless after I tore my ACL. Then, I considered not even getting the surgery, just working out the muscles to be able to walk without it, but then I was like, I should get surgery” said Winget. When asked what the Owls are going to get from Winget, she said, “I’m a very hard worker when it comes to school and cheer, and good at being able to balance out the two.”

Congratulations Trojans and best of luck in the future!
