MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Tattnall Square Academy held its annual Kids’ Yule Love toy drive on Friday, collecting donations for children in need ahead of Christmas.

Public relations officer for Kids’ Yule Love Chris Allen says for more than 40 years, the organization has helped bring smiles to children’s faces during the holiday season.

“It’s our 41st year, and Kids’ Yule Love has been going around helping kids for Christmas,” he said. “Like here at Tattnall, it’s amazing what we’ve got going for kids at Christmas time.”

Tattnall has been one of the largest donors to the Kids’ Yule Love organization, helping ensure children in need across Middle Georgia have gifts under the tree on Christmas. Head of School Travis Absher says watching students bring in gifts for less fortunate children is meaningful to see.

“We’re here to be of God’s kingdom, and if that looks like this, fine, and we try to do it in other ways,” he said. “But this is just one of the ways. And one thing about Tattnall people and the Tattnall family, if there’s a good mission, they’re going to do a great job, like they do everything else.”

Absher says the drive is also about teaching students to give back to the community.

“To give to those, to be Christ-like, to serve,” he said. “And we feel like this is a very good way for us to teach them that. But also to give to those kids, we can’t stand the thought of a kid not having something at Christmas. And I know no one wants to think like that, but it’s really important to us, and we’re just happy to do it today.”

All students, faculty and staff members at Tattnall Square Academy were asked to donate one to two unwrapped toys at the event.
