Suspect steals copper from burned church
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon church that was burned down last month was broken into early Friday morning.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s office, a thief stole copper from the air conditioning unit at God’s Power Church of Christ on Cedar Avenue.
Lt. Sean Defoe, with the Bibb County Sheriff’s office, says an anonymous caller called in around 5:45a.m. and said a suspicious person was near the church.
When deputies arrived, the suspect was gone, but found that copper had been taken.
In late June, the church was burned down and is being investigated as an arson.
