Suspect Shot in Academy Sports Parking Lot While Attempting to Enter Auto
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A suspect is shot in a store parking lot early Tuesday morning after attempting to break into a vehicle, according to a news release.
The incident took place in the parking lot of Academy Sports on Eisenhower Parkway around 2AM after the suspect was caught entering the vehicle of a store employee.
After a physical altercation between the two, the employee retrieved his gun and shot the suspect. When the police arrived, they were able to locate a number of items and identified the suspect as 51-year-old Charles Stinson, Jr.
The MPD later learned that Stinson had been treated for a gunshot wound to the jaw at Coliseum Northside Hospital, and was eventually transferred to the Medical Center. Charges of Entering Auto are pending upon his release.
The employee has not been charged in the shooting.
