Strong/Severe Storms Possible Until Midnight

Showers and Thunderstorms are rumbling across Middle Georgia this afternoon.  The heat and humidity have lead the way to see some stronger storms at times.  The biggest threats are from heavy rain, frequent lightning and some wind gusts up to around 60 mph.  The thunderstorms will weaken as we loose the daytime heating of the day later this evening.  Showers will be possible until we get to around Midnight.  Temperatures are very warm, with most of us in the mid to upper 80’s (outside the storms).  Storms (rain) will make it a little bit better, but don’t expect much relief from the heat, and no relief from the humidity.  I wouldn’t be surprised if we have some fog overnight as well in the areas we see rain today/tonight.  Looking ahead, we will see some storm chances through the next few days going forward, really about like today.  Highs will be in the upper 80’s to near 90 degrees.  The chances come back into the forecast as we go into the weekend, with a nice ridge of high pressure forecasted to park itself over the Southeast.  That will do a few things for us.  The first being, it will bring in the heat!  Temperatures are likely to soar into the low to mid 90’s.  I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some mid to upper 90’s.  The other thing it will do, will limit our thunderstorm chances in the afternoon.  I actually am going to take out the storm chances from Saturday all the way to next Tuesday.  There could be a storm or two, but its unlikely at this time.  Stay tuned!
