Storms Wash Out Last Weekend of Cherry Blossom Festival
Scattered showers and rumbles of thunder washed out the last weekend of the Cherry Blossom Festival.
“We had rain and severe weather beginning Saturday, late afternoon,” said President and CEO Karen Jordan Lambert.
“The Street Party was cancelled, Central City Park also had to close on Saturday and Sunday due to the severe weather and the standing water around all of the electrical cables.”
But if you purchased your tickets in advance, a refund should put your mind at ease and keep your pockets full.
Head of Mercer Ticket Sales Leila Ibrahim says, “All the people who purchased tickets online, through the internet will be refunded automatically, those who bought with a credit card can either come in person or call us and those who bought with cash or check need to come back and we’ll refund their money with their tickets.”
Festivals like this one bring communities together and provide outdoor entertainment, unfortunately they’re also subject to weather interference.
“We go, we go, we go as far as we can and then when it’s necessary to cancel then we deal with it and keep going,” said Lambert.
Cherry Blossom Festival organizers say the event was still a great success with 8 days of sunny weather and large crowds to enjoy the fun.
Refunds will only be available until Friday, April 8th.
