Storm damage closes roads in Crisp County

CORDELE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Overnight storms that included strong winds and heavy rain in Crisp County caused some serious damage.
The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office shared on social media there are road closures on North Cedar Creek and Landing Road, specifically impacting people who live the Scenic Route/North Cedar Creek area.
First responders and agencies providing aid are operating in the impacted area, and leaders have declared a state of emergency in Crisp County.
Initial estimates indicate at least 36 homes have been damaged. 19 of those have major damage, according to the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office.
EMA has set up a command center at Lake Blackshear Baptist Church in response to the storm damage.
