Celebration of life for Stephen Fossett
“We need more empathy, and just make sure things are handled better. I think that my son’s whole case- even from the time that he passed, and the events from there, everything just needs to be handled differently when a person passes.”
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The family and the legal team representing Stephen Fossett held a special event on what would have been Stephen’s 43rd birthday to discuss the current status of the investigation into his tragic death at Bibb County jail.
Fossett’s mother Paula Platt says she would love to see more mental health training to prevent events like this happening to any one else.
“We need more empathy, and just make sure things are handled better. I think that my son’s whole case- even from the time that he passed, and the events from there, everything just needs to be handled differently when a person passes.”
The families legal team gave 41nbc an recent update on the investigation. The legal team says they observed the jail footage and saw Mr. Fossett in a dorm area and seem to be in medical distress.
They say Fossett was unattended for several minutes, they say no officers engaged in helping Fossett immediately.
As of today, the sheriff’s office has yet to release the jail footage, but Fossett’s mother and legal team say they will continue to fight until justice is severed.
