State Sen. Brown Officially Announces Bid for Mayor

State Senator Robert Brown announced he will join 4 other candidates running to become the Mayor of Macon. Brown says his extensive political career has prepared him to run the city. This announcement means he’ll step down as minority leader of the State Senate.

According to Brown, he plans to bring the crime rate down if elected. Brown also says he plans to address funding issues and problems plaguing infrastructure. He says unifying Macon and Bibb County will help move the area forward.

“We don’t have the same shine we had at one time, and by that I mean we are not regarded as moving forward and being the leader in the region,” says Brown.
If elected, Brown says he plans to assess all employees of the City.

The other candidates running are current Macon Mayor, Robert Reichert, Bibb Firefighter Paul Bronson, former Mayor C. Jack Ellis, and former mayoral candidate David Cousino.

State Representative David Lucas is rumored to be running for Brown’s vacant Senate seat. Lucas tells 41 NBC, He’ll hold a news conference on May, 2, and make an announcement.
