State Seeks Death Penalty Against Stephen McDaniel
The Bibb County District Attorney’s Office filed a motion today with the Bibb County Superior Court to seek the death penalty against Stephen McDaniel. McDaniel was indicted for the murder of his neighbor 27 year old Lauren Giddings in November.
Giddings was last seen on June 25th. Parts of her dismembered body were found in a trash bin outside her Barristers Hall Complex on June 30th.
The motion calls the the offense of murder, “outrageously or wantonly vile, horrible, or inhuman in that it involved depravity of mind.”
McDaniel has been in jail since July 1st. McDaniel’s lawyer, Floyd Buford, could not be reached for immediate comment.
