State Representative David Lucas Recovering After Heart Attack

State Representative David Lucas is recovering today after undergoing heart surgery. According to his wife, Lucas was at the Soul Jam Festival last night when he was taken to the Medical Center of Middle Georgia and treated for heat exhaustion.

While at the hospital, doctors discovered two blocked blood vessels going to his heart and immediately operated. Lucas is currently in the intensive care unit, but is expected to move into a regular room by the end of the day.

“We’re very grateful and Representative David Lucas is doing well. He’s on the road to recovery but he’s just got to kind of change and initiate some healthier habits,” says Elaine Lucas.

Elaine Lucas says her husband should be out of the hospital in two to three days. She says her husband is eager to get back on the campaign trail for the open senate seat when Senator Brown resigns.
