State Rep. Anissa Jones (D) highlights economic development, affordability ahead of legislative session

As Georgia lawmakers prepare to convene for the upcoming legislative session, economic development and affordability are among the top concerns being raised by representatives across the state.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – State Rep. Anissa Jones says the issues she’s hearing most from constituents center on everyday costs and long-term community investment.

“The things that are very important are economic development, affordable healthcare, affordable housing, as well as for this particular area is helping to expand the historic tax credit issue that we have,” Jones said.

Jones says expanding access to affordable housing and healthcare remains critical as communities continue to grow, while historic tax credits can help preserve older neighborhoods and encourage redevelopment without displacing residents.

The Georgia General Assembly is set to return to the Capitol on Monday Jan. 12. During the session, lawmakers will debate legislation and finalize priorities for the year, including funding decisions and policy proposals that could impact communities statewide.
